Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Cordle confessed in a video posted on video-sharing website YouTube that he was responsible for a wrong-way car crash, due to driving drunk, that led to the death of a man. He stated that he is willing to go to jail for his actions.
The three and a half-minute video, which also appeared on blogger Alex Sheen’s site becauseisaidiwould.com, detailed the events surrounding the accident that happened on June 22 on Interstate 670 in Columbus, Franklin County in Ohio. Cordle said he had been fighting depression and had been barhopping the night of the accident. Being totally drunk, he ended up driving into oncoming traffic on the highway and slamming into 61-year-old Columbus resident Vincent Canzani’s vehicle, instantly killing him.
Franklin County prosecutor Ron O’Brien said Thursday, September 5 that he will ask the grand jury to indict Cordle with aggravated vehicular homicide.
